2023

2020

December 3, 2020 – Thomas J. Sullivan appointed President & Chief Executive Officer. Neil Shillingford will continue to contribute to Spectrum’s success on the Board of Directors.

December 1, 2020 – Acquisition of Spectrum Plastics Group Niles, IL (PeelMaster Packaging)

March 2020 - As a manufacturer of products that supporting the medical, defense and industrial industries, Spectrum Plastics Group maintains full operational status in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic. 2019

January 2019 - Spectrum Plastics Group announces four new operating divisions: Medical Tubing, Vascular Technologies, Specialty Molding and Film. This new divisional structure was initiated to better serve customers, improve communication and provide overall organizational efficiency.

June 2019 – Acquisition of Wexford, Ireland facility, formerly Earnan Biomedical

November 2019- Spectrum Plastics Group increases catheter manufacturing capabilities with Sandy, Utah facility expansion

2018

Jan 31, 2018 - affiliates of AEA Investors acquire Spectrum Plastics Group from Kohlberg & Company, LLC.

February 13, 2018 - Spectrum Plastics Group announces the acquisition of Pittsfield operation, Apex Resource Technologies.

May 24, 2018 - Spectrum Plastics Group acquires Jersey Shore formerly Fermatex Vascular Technologies, formerly the Adam Spence Corporation.

2017

2017 – Spectrum Plastics Group Sandy operation moved into its new state of the art 100,000 sq. ft. facility.

May 8, 2017, Kohlberg & Company and PPC Industries, Inc acquires Pexco LLC and forms the new Spectrum Plastics Group, with headquarters seated in Alpharetta, Georgia.

October 2017 – WL Gore divested Jersey Shore location to Vance Street Capital, naming the entity “Fermatex Vascular Technologies”

2016

January 11, 2016 - Spectrum Plastics Group Reynosa and San Diego acquired (Vitalmed Inc), offering a full range of components and assemblies

June 30, 2016, consolidation of Scientific Plastics Corp. into the operation in Spectrum Plastics Group Minneapolis, Minnesota facility.

September 1, 2016 – Acquisition of Spectrum Plastics Group Tucson (Xeridiem Medical Devices), expansion into silicone and finished device assembly solutions,

2012-2015

2015 - December 30th, 2015 - Acquisition of Scientific Plastics Corp., a specialty injection molder in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

2015 - December 8th, 2015, - Acquisition of Spectrum Plastics Glens Falls, formerly Precision Extrusion LLC.

2014 - Kohlberg & Company acquires PPC Industries, Inc. with the goal of forming a leading medical business.

2014 - Acquisition of Apollo® Medical Extrusion, now known as Spectrum Plastics Group Sandy, Utah.

2014 - Expansion of Mexicali, Mexico manufacturing location

2013 - July 29th, 2013 - Acquisition of Scandia Plastics, Inc. of Plaistow, New Hampshire. Scandia was a custom extrusion business specializing in high-performance thermoplastic extrusions and down-stream value-add machining capabilities. Scandia sells to the filtration, medical, environmental, defense, and other industrial markets, processing a variety of high-end engineering resin materials.

2013 - On September 3rd, 2013, acquisition of Minnesota-based operation, Spectrum Plastics, Inc. Spectrum Plastics Group Minneapolis is a precision injection molder of advanced thermoplastics selling primarily into the medical and surgical, defense, and aerospace fields.

2012 - Opening of Tullamore, Ireland facility

2007-2010

2010-PPC Industries Inc. acquires Kelcourt Plastics to gain exposure to medical markets

2009 - Filtrona Extrusions Inc. sells extrusion business to Saw Mill Capital and renames business as Pexco.

2007- In 2007, Pexco of Northborough is merged with Duall Plastics in Athol, and the facility is expanded. The name Pexco is later reused by the company in 2009 and adopted as its corporate identity.

1990-2005

2005- The Filtrona fiber and plastic business, organized under Filtrona International Limited, demerges from Bunzl Plc. and becomes Filtrona Plc., a separate publicly traded company listed on Financial Times Stock Exchange 250 in London. Bunzl Extrusions, Filtrona’s plastic extrusion division, becomes Filtrona Extrusion, Inc.

2004 - Spectrum Plastics Jersey Shore (Adam Spence Corporation) Acquired by WL Gore (2004)

1990s - Spectrum Plastics Jersey Shore begins the manufacturing and commercialization of Adam Spence High Pressure Braided Tubing

1960-1990s

1989 - American Fitrona Corporation, itself later acquired by Filtrona International, buys Duall Plastics of Athol, Massachusetts, which specialized in the design and manufacture of custom plastic extrusions for a range of industrial and consumer products such as children’s toys, board games, and marine products. In the following decade, Duall Plastics began manufacturing fences, recreational and medical products, and other custom extrusions. Today, this facility specializes in medical tubing and other custom extrusions.

1983 - Pittsfield operation was founded, began clean room molding in 1996, and bioabsorbable material handling and molding in 2006.

1940s-1960

1964- McCourtney Plastics build new factory at 7309 W. 27th Street (2700 Louisiana Ave)

1961 – Spectrum Plastics Group Minneapolis (McCourtney Plastics) operation is founded 1961 at 3389-91 Brownlow Ave.

1960 – Adam Sanford, CEO, founds Adam Spence Corporation (Spectrum Plastics Group Jersey Shore)

1954 – Buntzl establishes Filtrona Corporation

1949 – PPC Industries Inc.is founded as a blown film extruder.
